Who directed the film ? 

Rebecca Johnson 

Why did the director choose to tell this particular story? Where is the story idea from and why is it topical? 

The director chose to base the film on a real story and was inspired off a real case murder involving the same thing shown in the movie where the girl leads the boy to his death. She also wanted to show how the perspective of female members of ganged are like within the gang society so she also portrayed this too.

What was the budget?

Under £1 million however plus more from other sources.

How did they raise the funds for the film? 

They received funds from the Walcott foundation, Deutsche Bank, Barclay community and first light. Also through crowd sourcing. 

How did they find the films cast ? 

There are many different methods that honeytrap decided to search for such as young people via agencies, theaters, schools, community centers and street casting

Who did the director collaborate with and why was this important?

David Raedeker (Photography) won best cinematography award in the past. Tracey Grander (Editor) has 30 years of experience and her best known work won an oscar.

What technology has been used to make the film ?

ADR - Automated Dialogue Replacement - lines were recorded to sync for additional clarity or sometimes for additional plot details.

Grading - Photoshop for moving images.  This is where the look and feel of the film were created with tweaks in colour, brightness, saturation and additional touches.

What examples of cross media convergence can you find?
The soundtrack used in the film and RWD (magazine) 

Where was the film made? Why was it important to the director?
Brixton, South London, because its the 'ghetto' are of South London and it would add realism to the story and that's where the actual events took place.

Marketing


Who is the target audience?

The film is aimed at 17-24 and is a unisex film for those who mostly live in the urban cities could understand the concept of the film and the meaning much closer as they can most likely relate to the film through experience.

List the different marketing tools that have been used to promote the film to different audiences?

Different types of promotion such as youtube to promote their film "HoneyTrap" to more of a global audience since most content can be viewed internationally. Trailers were used for the awareness of the film and when it was releasing but also to pull in the audience with small short trailer teaser. Also had dedicated social networking pages such as Facebook,  Twitter and Tumblr since this has a large user base it is a vital location promote their film. On top of this they used the soundtrack to promote the film and including the cast.


How has the 'social inclusion' aspect of the film helped to promote and market it to the audience?


The social institution aspect helped to promote and market the film to the target audience, who are mainly young people, as they are able to relate and emphasize with the characters.

Why would this film appeal to a National audience? 

The film is based off a real life occurrence that had been broadcast on news for a while in the past since it was based in a UK Location i think the film would be connected to a UK audience most likely the southern part of London. There also lots of many gang related crimes around the UK and usually are happening quite frequently now.

Are there any examples of synergy with other products/merchandise?

The music used in the film is by South London music artists 

What is the role of the BFI London Film Festival in promoting the film and the film maker? 

Their role is to display the film to a larger audience and to attract many viewers as possible this is where you can pull in big distributor companies who may be interested in the film to also buy the film and distribute it to a wider audience.

Based on a real story which improved rates of crime. The story came from the case of Samantha Joseph (who led a boy into his death which the term 'honey trap' came from) and the TV drama My Murder.
